NDIS community participation, support to get out, connect and feel included

Support to get to the places, people and activities that matter to you, from outings and groups to staying part of your local community. As a registered NDIS provider based in Helensvale, we support participants and families right across the Gold Coast.

Big plans or no plans, we are easy to talk to.

Warm, respectful NDIS support across the Gold Coast, built around the activities, people and places that matter to you.

What we help with

What is community participation?

It’s support to take part in life outside your front door, funded in your NDIS plan under Assistance with Social and Community Participation. A support worker comes along to the things you want to do, an outing, a class, a catch-up, a group, so getting out feels easier and more enjoyable.

Getting out and about

Support to visit local places, run errands and get to the community spaces you want to use.

Social and recreation

A hand to enjoy outings, hobbies and the activities you genuinely like, at a pace that suits you.

Groups and programs

Support to join group or centre-based activities, and to feel at ease once you are there.

Staying connected

Help to keep up with friends, family and the people who matter, so you feel part of things.

Community Participation Services

Support That Makes Getting Out and Taking Part Feel Easier

Community participation looks different for everyone. For some it is a weekly outing or a coffee with a friend. For others it is joining a group, getting to a class, or simply feeling at ease out and about. We work with you to understand what you would like to do, then support you to do it in a way that feels comfortable and meaningful.

Care you can trust

Support from someone you are glad to have along

Getting out and trying things is so much easier when you are with the right person. So we put real care into who we match you with, someone you feel relaxed around, out in the community and in a group.

Screened, checked and trained

Before anyone supports you out and about, they hold a current NDIS Worker Screening Check and have completed our training. Your safety comes first, wherever you are.

Matched to you

We take time to pair you with someone who suits your personality and shares an interest in the things you like to do. And if you would rather a man or a woman, or someone who shares your language, faith or culture, just say the word.

Workers who get to know you

We do our best to keep the same workers with you, so going out feels easy and familiar rather than starting over with a stranger each time. And on the rare day your regular worker can't make it, whoever steps in will know where you like to go and how you like things.

And if the match is ever not right, just tell us. We will listen, and find someone who fits better.

Here to help

You don’t need a plan or a list of activities ready. If you are weighing things up, or just want to understand how it works, we are glad to help. No pressure, and no obligation.

Funding

Is community participation covered by the NDIS?

In most cases, yes. Community participation sits in your Core supports budget, under Assistance with Social and Community Participation. It funds a support worker to help you get to and take part in activities. Whether it is funded, and how much, depends on your goals and what is reasonable and necessary for you.

One thing worth knowing: the funding covers the support, not the cost of the activity itself, so things like entry fees, tickets and memberships are usually yours to cover. We deliver the support and your plan decides what it covers, and if you are not sure what is in your plan, we are happy to talk it through and point you in the right direction.

What we believe

We start with what you actually enjoy

There is no one-size-fits-all way to enjoy life. Maybe it is the footy on the weekend, a craft group, or just a coffee somewhere new. We start with what you actually like and build the support around that, because that is when getting out stops feeling like an appointment and starts feeling like your life.

More than just being there

Anyone can stand off to the side while you do your thing. We are there to join in, share a laugh, and be genuinely good company.

FAQs

Community participation, answered

Is community participation covered by the NDIS?

In most cases, yes. It sits in your Core supports budget, under Assistance with Social and Community Participation, which funds a support worker to help you get out and take part. Whether it is funded depends on your goals and what is reasonable and necessary for you, and we are happy to help you understand what is in your plan.

Usually not. The funding covers the support to get you there and take part, the worker’s time, rather than the cost of the activity, so entry fees, tickets and memberships are generally yours to cover. There can be exceptions, so it is worth checking against your plan and goals.

Community participation is Core funding, support to take part now, with a worker alongside you. Increased Social and Community Participation is Capacity Building, about building the skills to do more on your own over time, which is closer to our Life Skills support. They often work together, and we can explain how if you are unsure.

Yes. Getting you to and from an activity is part of community participation support, and your worker can travel with you or drive you. If you need regular transport to appointments and everyday places, that is our Transport service, which we are happy to talk through too.

Both. Some people prefer the buzz of a group or centre-based program, others prefer one-on-one support out in the community, and group support tends to stretch your budget further. We will help you work out which suits you, and you can mix the two.

That is completely normal, and there is no rush. We start small, go at a pace that feels okay, and you are always with someone you are comfortable with. The aim is for getting out to feel good, not stressful.

Of course. The right match matters even more when you are out and about together, so if it is not quite right, just tell us and we will find someone who suits you better. There is no awkwardness, and no lock-in.
