What we help with

What is work and study support?

It’s support to work towards your goals around employment, study and training, funded in your NDIS plan under your Capacity Building budget. Rather than doing it for you, a support worker or mentor works alongside you, helping you build the skills, confidence and experience to get ready for work and learning, at your own pace.

Getting ready for work

Building the skills, confidence and habits that help you feel ready for a job, at your own pace.

Finding and keeping work

Support to look for work that suits you, settle in, and keep going once you are there.

Study and training

A hand to take part in study, training and the learning that builds towards your goals.

Confidence for work

Practising the everyday things that make work and study feel doable, like routines, communication and getting organised.

Support That Builds Towards Work, Study and What's Next

Work and study can open up confidence, purpose and connection. Wherever you are starting from, whether you are thinking about your first job, getting back into work, or exploring study and training, we work alongside you to build towards it, step by step and at a pace that feels right.

Care you can trust

Someone in your corner, at your pace

Working towards a job or study is a big deal, and it goes best with someone who believes in you and never rushes you. So we put real care into who we match you with, someone encouraging, patient, and genuinely on your side.

Screened, checked and trained

Before anyone works with you, they hold a current NDIS Worker Screening Check and have completed our training. You are in safe, capable hands.

Matched to you

We take time to pair you with someone who suits you and understands what you are working towards. And if you would rather a man or a woman, or someone who shares your language, faith or culture, just say the word.

Steady support, your pace

Building towards work or study is not a race, so we do our best to keep the same workers with you and go at the pace that feels right. They will know your goals and how you like to be encouraged, and they are there to back you, not to push you.

And if the match is ever not right, just tell us. We will listen, and find someone who suits you better.

Here to help

Not sure where to start with work or study? Let's have a chat.

You do not need a clear plan or a goal worked out. If you are weighing things up, or just want to understand how it works, we are glad to help. No pressure, and no obligation.

Funding

Is work and study support covered by the NDIS?

In most cases, yes. Support to build your skills and confidence for work and study sits in your Capacity Building budget, under the supports for finding and keeping a job. It funds help to get ready for and move towards work and learning, with the aim of building your independence over time. Whether it is funded, and how much, depends on your goals and what is reasonable and necessary for you.

One thing worth knowing: the NDIS funds the disability support that helps you take part, not the things schools, training providers or employers are already responsible for, like course fees or workplace adjustments. We deliver the support and your plan decides what it covers, and if you are not sure what is in your plan, we are happy to talk it through and point you in the right direction.

What we believe

We believe in what you are working towards

Work and study are about more than a payslip or a certificate. They are about purpose, confidence, and being part of something. We start with what you want for yourself, then back you to build towards it, one step at a time, for as long as it helps.

Your goals lead the way

We are not here to push you into any job or course. We are here to help you work towards what matters to you, at a pace that feels right.

FAQs

Work and study support, answered

Is work and study support covered by the NDIS?

In most cases, yes. It sits in your Capacity Building budget, under the supports for finding and keeping a job, which fund help to build your skills and confidence for work and study. Whether it is funded depends on your goals and what is reasonable and necessary, and we are happy to help you understand what is in your plan.

We help you get ready for and move towards work, but we are not a job agency, and we cannot promise a job. What we do is build your skills, confidence and experience, support you to look for work that suits you, and stand beside you as you settle in. Finding the right role is something we work towards together.

Generally no. The NDIS does not cover course fees or the things schools, universities and training providers are responsible for. What it can fund is the disability support that helps you take part, like someone working alongside you to build skills and confidence. We are happy to help you understand where that line sits.

They are close, and they often work together. Life skills support builds the everyday skills of daily life, like cooking, budgeting and routines. Work and study support focuses on your goals for employment, study and training. If you are not sure which fits, we can help you work it out.

We can talk about it. Support to get ready for work after school is part of what the NDIS funds for young people, and the way it works is changing over the next while. If you or your young person is thinking about life after school, get in touch and we will talk through what is possible.

Yes, that is a big part of it. Getting a job is one thing, keeping it and feeling settled is another. We can support you as you start a new role and as you find your feet, so work feels sustainable, not just a one-off win.

That is completely okay, and there is no pressure. Lots of people start by just exploring what might be possible, at their own pace. We are happy to take it slowly and help you work out what feels right, with no commitment to anything.
