NDIS employment support on the Gold Coast, at your pace

Wanting to work, already working, or not sure yet. Wherever you’re at with it, there’s support for the parts that make work hard. We’re a registered NDIS provider on the Gold Coast, and employment support is one of the things we’re registered to deliver.

A friendly chat with a real person. No pressure, no obligation.

Building up to work

Confidence, routines, communication and the everyday skills that make a workplace manageable.

Getting there and back

Travel training, or a lift to a shift, so the commute isn't the reason it doesn't work out.

Support while you're at work

A worker alongside you on the job, helping you learn tasks or manage the day.

Keeping a job you've got

Support to stay in work when things change, rather than starting over somewhere new.

What we help with

The parts of work that get hard

Employment support isn’t one thing. It depends on where you’re up to and what actually gets in the way, whether that’s skills, confidence, or just getting there and back.

No pressure

Work means different things to different people

A lot of people arrive at this conversation carrying somebody else’s timeline. A parent asking when. A plan that mentions employment goals. A general sense of being further behind than you should be.

Work doesn’t have to mean full-time and it doesn’t have to mean soon. For some people the goal is a few hours a week. For others it’s volunteering first, or finishing a course, or simply finding out whether they’d like it at all.

All of those are legitimate places to start, and all of them can be supported.

What we won’t do is push you towards a job you don’t want on a timeline that isn’t yours. If you’d rather spend six months building confidence before anyone mentions an interview, that’s a reasonable plan and we’ll treat it like one.

Talk it through

Not sure where you'd start?

Tell us where you’re at and what you’d like to be doing, and we’ll talk through what’s possible. No pressure either way.

After sustaining a horse riding accident, I was left feeling hopeless. The team have been there every step of the way, helping me adjust to my new reality with care and support. After months of physiotherapy, I’ve finally been able to regain a sense of purpose and confidence in my life again. I’m incredibly grateful for everything they’ve done for me.

How it fits together

Where we fit alongside employment services

This part confuses almost everyone, partly because it changed recently. Disability Employment Services was replaced by Inclusive Employment Australia in November 2025.

Employment services are the ones who help you look for work, approach employers and place you in a job. If you’re eligible for that programme, it’s usually where job seeking starts.

We’re not a job agency and we don’t place people in jobs. What we do is the support around it: building skills before you’re ready to look, getting you to and from work, and being there alongside you on the job if that’s what makes it stick.

Plenty of people use both. One finds the opportunity, the other makes it workable. If you’re not sure which you need, we’re happy to talk it through and point you in the right direction.

Funding

How employment support is funded

Employment supports usually sit in the Capacity Building part of a plan, under finding and keeping a job. There are a few different routes into it.

School leaver supports

For young people in their final year of school or the couple of years after, building work readiness.

Finding and keeping a job

Skills, confidence and practical help like resumes, interviews and travel to a workplace.

Support in employment

A worker alongside you at work. Sometimes funded differently, so it's worth checking your plan.

How it works

How employment support usually runs

It’s built around your goals rather than a programme everyone goes through. It also works alongside other supports you already have, like life skills or personal care.

Before you decide

Questions worth asking any provider

Worth asking whoever you’re considering, us included.

Do I need an employment service too?

Ask how they work alongside Inclusive Employment Australia, and whether you should register.

Can someone come to work with me?

On-the-job support is a specific thing. Ask whether they can actually provide it.

What's in my plan for this?

Ask them to show you where employment support sits in your plan before anything starts.

What if I'm not ready yet?

A good provider will say that's fine. Be wary of anyone pushing a timeline at you.

Can you help me keep a job?

Most of the focus goes on finding work. Ask what happens when you already have it.

Who else do you work with?

Employers, employment services, schools. Ask how they coordinate with everyone involved.

Still Have Any Questions?

FAQs

Questions about NDIS employment support

Can the NDIS help me find a job?

Not directly. Job seeking and placement sit with employment services, which since November 2025 means Inclusive Employment Australia rather than DES. The NDIS funds the support around that, like building skills, getting to work, and help on the job.

Employment services help you look for work and connect with employers. NDIS employment support builds the skills and provides the practical help that makes work possible. Plenty of people use both at the same time.

SLES is NDIS funding for young people in their final year of school or the couple of years after, usually between about 16 and 22. It builds work readiness rather than finding a job. Get in touch and we’ll tell you honestly what we’re able to offer.

That’s called support in employment and it’s a real thing in the NDIS. A worker can help you learn tasks, manage the day, or handle personal care at work. Whether it’s in your plan is worth checking.

No. Wages come from your employer. The NDIS funds the support that helps you work, not the job itself. It also won’t cover equipment an employer should be providing, like a uniform or a laptop.

Yes, and it’s worth asking early rather than once things have unravelled. Support to keep a job is funded much the same way as support to find one, and it’s usually easier than starting again somewhere new.

That’s a perfectly reasonable place to be and it doesn’t disqualify you from anything. Some people start by trying something for a few hours a week to find out. There’s no obligation to decide first.
