Everyone deserves to find the information they need and to reach us easily. As a disability support provider, accessibility isn’t just something we tick off a list. It’s part of who we are and how we want to treat people. We want our website to work for you, whatever your abilities, and however you choose to browse.
Our commitment
We’re committed to making our website easy to use for as many people as possible, including people with disability. We aim to meet a widely recognised standard called the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, at Level AA. This is the benchmark recommended in Australia, and it supports our responsibilities under the Disability Discrimination Act 1992.
We know accessibility is never “finished”. We keep learning, and we keep improving.
Some of the things we do
To help make our website easier to use, we work to:
- Write in plain, clear language, so information is easy to understand.
- Structure pages with proper headings, so they’re easier to navigate, including with a screen reader.
- Add text descriptions to images, so they still make sense if you can’t see them.
- Make sure you can move around the site using a keyboard, not just a mouse.
- Use colours and text that are easier to read, with good contrast.
- Let you make text larger using your browser’s zoom, without breaking the page.
- Design the site to work on phones, tablets and computers.
Our website also has an accessibility tool that lets you adjust things like text size, contrast and spacing to suit you.
Getting information another way
If our website isn’t the easiest way for you to get what you need, that’s okay. Just ask, and we’ll find a way that works for you. We’re happy to share information:
- In Easy Read.
- In large print.
- Read aloud, or talked through over the phone.
- In another language, or with the help of an interpreter.
Whatever helps you understand and feel comfortable, we’ll do our best to make it happen.
We’re always improving
We do our best, but we know some parts of our website may not be perfect yet, and some older documents or third-party tools can be harder to use. We’re working on it. If you come across something that’s hard to use, please tell us. Your feedback genuinely helps us make things better for everyone.
Tell us if something isn’t working
If you have trouble using any part of our website, or you’d like information in a different format, please get in touch. It helps if you can tell us:
- The page or part of the site you were using.
- What went wrong, or what you were trying to do.
- The best way for us to get back to you.
We’ll listen, help however we can, and work to fix the problem.
